About the park
Popa Falls is a set of rapids where the Okavango drops about 4 m over a stretch of rocks, best seen when the river is low, and the tiny park around them protects 25 ha of lush riverine forest between Divundu and Bagani. Hippo and crocodile live in the river, so swimming is out, and more than 400 bird species have been recorded in the area. NWR's Popa Falls Resort has chalets and a campsite on the river, and other camps nearby offer everything from camping to cabins. Most people use it as a base for boat trips and for game drives in Mahango, about 14 km away. Expect a short riverside stroll rather than a waterfall.
