Campesa helps you plan. It can't replace checking with the campsite or park, and good judgement on the road.

Information can be wrong or out of date

We do our best to make every listing as accurate as possible. That being said, due to the number of listings and the lack of information in some cases, accuracy can't be guaranteed. Listings come from OpenStreetMap, campsites' own websites, park authorities, other published sources, campsite operators and travellers, and campsites close, prices change, gates move, fuel runs dry and roads wash away.

Verify anything critical to your trip (opening, prices, booking, access and park rules) with the campsite or park before you go, and ask campsites to update their listing where something is missing or wrong.

Distances, directions and drive times

Directions and trip drive times follow the roads and tracks on our map. They're a planning estimate that allows for sand and rough surfaces, but they exclude stops and can't know about closures, floods or the state of a track today. The distances to the nearest fuel, food, water and gates shown on a campsite are straight-line, not by road. Map positions are approximate.

Don't use Campesa for turn-by-turn navigation: use a proper navigation app and paper maps, and carry enough fuel and water for the unexpected.

Roads and 4x4 tracks

Track lines come from OpenStreetMap, and the vehicle, season and status shown on them come from park rules and published reports, each dated and linked. A line on the map doesn't mean a track exists on the ground, is open, or is passable in your vehicle: rain and floods change tracks within days, and reports can be months old. Drive only where the park allows, and ask at the gate about routes before you set off.

Prices and currencies

Prices are shown in the currency the campsite charges. Converted prices use daily exchange rates and are approximate. Park entry and conservation fees are usually extra.

Ratings

Campfire scores are our opinion, not a guarantee of quality or safety.

Safety

Travel in remote areas and among wildlife carries real risk. Follow park rules and local advice, check border and permit requirements, and make your own decisions about safety. You travel at your own risk.

Links to other sites

We link to campsite websites, park authorities and map apps, and show photos and reviews from other sites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.
