About the park
Orapa Game Park began in 1992 as a 3,000 ha enclosure next to the Orapa diamond mine and has grown to almost 49,000 ha, run by mining company Debswana with its own conservation officer. Zebra, eland, wildebeest, springbok, giraffe and waterbuck are the usual sightings, and the park also holds rhino. You drive yourself, and early morning and late afternoon give the best chance of game. It makes a quiet half-day for travellers already passing through the Boteti area rather than a destination on its own. Orapa is a Debswana mining town, so sort out entry with Debswana before you arrive.
