Onguma Game Reserve
Private 35,970 ha reserve on Etosha's eastern edge by Fischer's Pan, with five lodges, two campsites and a trails camp; guests only.
357 km² · 1 gate · 1 campsite · Run by Private (Onguma Nature Reserve)
About the park
Onguma borders Etosha on its eastern side, next to Fischer's Pan, and its entrance is on the C38 just before Etosha's Von Lindequist (Namutoni) gate, so it is an easy base for the eastern half of the park. The reserve covers 35,970 ha with more than thirty mammal species, including giraffe, kudu, eland, hartebeest, zebra, impala and black rhino, and lion, cheetah and leopard; over 300 bird species visit, and summer rains fill seasonal wetlands with migrants. Accommodation runs from Camp Kala, The Fort, Tented Camp, Bush Camp and Forest Camp to the Leadwood and Tamboti campsites and a trails camp. On the reserve itself activities are guided, from bush walks and sunset drives to the Onkolo photographic hide, and campers may not drive their own vehicles on Onguma land. A rhino levy is charged on top of most rates.
