About the park
Aru Game Lodges runs two lodges on about 27,500 ha of private land east and southeast of Windhoek. Kalakwa, about 115 km from the city and 70 km from Hosea Kutako airport, sits in country that runs from savannah grassland into bushveld and rocky hills; Veronica lies further out among red Kalahari dunes and camelthorn trees. Both black and white rhino live on the properties, and guided rhino tracking is the outing to book, alongside game drives, night drives, guided walks and horse riding. Eland, oryx, springbok, red hartebeest and kudu make up the plains game, with leopard about. Being close to the airport, it works well as a first or last night of a trip.
