A hilltop group camp in a private reserve beside Matobo National Park, with big views and wildlife at the waterhole below. Individual campers need to arrange ahead but can lean on the lodge for meals and drinks.
Worlds View is the camping side of Farmhouse Matopos, a lodge and restaurant built around an old farm homestead on the edge of Matobo National Park. The camp sits high on the hills of the private Granite Ridge Wildlife Reserve, with wide views over jagged granite outcrops and dry savanna towards the park. Game comes to drink at the waterhole below camp, black eagles ride the thermals over the kopjes, and leopard are heard at night. It is set up mainly for groups around a big thatched dining and gathering area, but individual campers are taken by arrangement and can use the lodge’s restaurant, bar and rock pool. The camp is 48 km from Bulawayo on the Matopos road; there is no mains power, phone signal is poor, and full payment is needed before arrival.
