A one-party camp beside the deep Rossi Pools on the Mwenezi, with a hide for watching crocodiles, terrapins and game at the water. One of the most rewarding river sites in the quiet south.
Rossi Pools takes its name from a run of deep, green pools on the Mwenezi River a few kilometres downstream of Mabalauta, and the camp sits about 50 metres from the water with a thatched shelter and a hide looking over it. The pools are the attraction: crocodiles haul out on the sandbanks, terrapins surface, fish show in the shallows on still days and game comes down to drink, so much of a stay is spent watching the river. It is booked to one party at a time and reached from the Mabalauta office in the south of the park, via Malipati Gate from Beitbridge or the Boli and Sango gates. Facilities are basic, so bring all water and firewood.

Enter via Malipati Gate (gravel road from Beitbridge) or Boli/Sango Gate and report to the Mabalauta office; Rossi Pools is about 9 km south of Mabalauta down the Mwenezi.
