About
Rengwe is the old Sanyati Bridge camp, revived by the local community and perched on a promontory above the Sanyati River gorge just before the long road bridge. The reason to stop is the view: from the clearing you look down on the river and the valley, with people working and walking on the riverbed below, and the sky turns orange behind the western hills at sunset. A caretaker meets campers, takes payment and brings firewood, and a couple of re-thatched rondavels overlook the gorge. Very few travellers come this way, so you are likely to have it to yourself. The camp is about two hours from Karoi, with tar to around Zvipani and then gravel, and the last stretch drops steeply into the gorge on a corrugated track; arrive in daylight and be self-sufficient.
