A rarely visited wilderness pitch in the park's far north-east, with a fire pit and long-drop only. It suits self-sufficient crews combining it with nights at the Chilojo Cliffs.
Pokwe sits in the far north-eastern corner of Gonarezhou, beyond the Chilojo Cliffs and Chitove, in country near the lower Runde and the Machaniwa pan that sees very few vehicles. It is booked by one party at a time and has nothing but a fire pit and long-drop, so the appeal is solitude in the least-visited part of the park, within reach of the cliffs for a day's outing. Expect a full day's drive from Chipinda Pools on slow tracks, and plan each day so you are back in camp before the evening curfew. Carry all water and firewood, and check vehicle numbers with reservations when booking.

Long, slow day from Chipinda Pools on sandy and rocky tracks with river crossings; high-clearance 4x4 and recovery gear needed. Remote camps close late November to March/April. No driving after 18:00.
From Chipinda Pools drive east past the Chilojo Cliffs (about 37 km, 2 hours) and on into the north-eastern corner of the park, roughly 25 km further; confirm route and causeways with reservations.
