Campsite
Mana Pools' only communal campground, on the Zambezi at park HQ, where elephants wander between tents and hippos graze past at night.
Park conservation fees are extra, paid at the gate.
The classic self-drive base for Mana Pools, right on the Zambezi with big game walking through an unfenced camp. It is busy by Mana standards but puts the floodplain walks and Long Pool on the doorstep.
Nyamepi sits under big riverine trees on the Zambezi beside the Mana Pools headquarters, looking across the water to the Zambian escarpment. Nothing is fenced: elephants browse between the pitches most days, hippos come up to graze in front of the riverfront sites after dark and hyenas patrol at night, so food stays locked in the vehicle. Days start on foot, because the floodplain around Long Pool can be walked with a permit from reception, and the bulls that rear up on their hind legs to reach winter-thorn pods feed nearby. It is a long gravel drive in from Marongora on the Harare–Chirundu road, best in a high-clearance 4x4. Bring every supply, and book a riverfront pitch months ahead for the dry season.

Reviews are campers' own opinions, not Campesa's. They don't change the campfire score.
All roads in the park are gravel or tracks on clay that turns slippery after rain; a high-clearance 4x4 is strongly advised. No fuel inside the park, so fill up before the escarpment. The park closes to most traffic in the rains.
Collect the entry permit at the ZimParks Marongora office on the A1 Harare–Chirundu road, show it at Chimutsi Gate and sign in again at Nyakasikana Gate, then follow the gravel road down to the Zambezi floodplain.
