A remote single-party camp beside Ngweshla Pan, often named by campers as the best of the eastern picnic sites for its trees and game. Simple, lightly fenced and busy with day visitors until evening.
About
Ngweshla is the most remote of the eastern picnic sites, about 60 km from Main Camp, and campers who stay often rate it their favourite: big shade trees beside a pumped pan in what was once the territory of the lion Cecil. Roan, sable, eland, giraffe and zebra come to drink, elephants splash in the pan, and lions are often about. Animal skulls line the entrance, an old donkey boiler still stands on site and attendants keep the toilets clean. By day it is a busy lunch stop for drivers on the Ngweshla loop, but at night the single booked party has it alone. The fence is porous and facilities are simple, so bring everything and keep food locked away.
