Bush camp
Four exclusive one-party sites on the Zambezi about 8 km west of Nyamepi: shade, river views and no neighbours in sight.
Park conservation fees are extra, paid at the gate.
One of the classic Mana Pools exclusive sites: a shaded piece of Zambezi bank shared with nobody but the wildlife. It rewards fully self-sufficient campers who want solitude rather than services.
Mucheni is the Mana Pools formula at its purest: a stretch of Zambezi bank about 8 km west of Nyamepi with four sites, each taken by a single party, so the river view is yours alone. The pitches are well shaded and roomy enough for a group, and evenings are spent watching elephants along the bank while hippos grunt in the river after dark. Being away from the main camp makes it quieter, though game-drive vehicles still use the river road by day. Floodplain walks need a permit from Nyamepi reception. Come fully self-sufficient with water treatment, and book far ahead, since regulars return to the same site each year.

All roads in the park are gravel or tracks on clay that turns slippery after rain; a high-clearance 4x4 is strongly advised. No fuel inside the park, so fill up before the escarpment. The park closes to most traffic in the rains.
Collect the entry permit at the ZimParks Marongora office on the A1 Harare–Chirundu road, show it at Chimutsi Gate and sign in again at Nyakasikana Gate, then follow the gravel road down to the Zambezi floodplain.
