A lakeside resort whose campsite is the natural place to wait for the Kariba ferry or base a fishing trip. Facilities are more resort than bush camp, and camping details need confirming with the resort.
Mlibizi Zambezi Resort sits at the far western end of Lake Kariba, where the Mlibizi River meets the head of the lake, right next to the pier for the Kariba ferry. Most campers here are either waiting for the 9am sailing to Kariba town or have come to fish, since pontoon boats can be hired by the day for fishing on the lake. The grounds are green and well kept, with two swimming pools and views over the river mouth and the start of the lake, and braai evenings are held by the water. It lies about 75 km north-east of Hwange, more than three hours' drive from Victoria Falls, on a potholed road through hilly bush. The ferry needs booking well ahead and sails only with enough passengers.
