Campsite
Nyanga National Park's main ZimParks camping and caravan ground, a big sheltered field by the Mare River near the Rhodes office.
Park conservation fees are extra, paid at the gate.
The straightforward public camping option in Nyanga, a roomy riverside field that puts the park's trout dams, waterfalls and Mount Nyangani within easy reach. It is about the highlands' cool scenery and walks rather than big game or seclusion.
Mare is the national park's public camping and caravan ground: a large, well-sheltered field with trees beside the Mare River, just west of Rhodes Dam and close to the park office and the Rhodes Nyanga Hotel. It is a base for the cool, green highlands rather than a wildlife camp: trout fly-fishing on Mare Dam a few kilometres away (catch and release on a day licence, or pay by weight at the hatchery pond below the wall), the Rhodes Nyanga Historical Exhibition in Rhodes' old stables, and drives to Nyangombe, Pungwe and Mutarazi falls or walks on Mount Nyangani, Zimbabwe's highest peak. Evenings are spent around wood fires. The park is reached on tar from Harare via Rusape and Juliasdale, or from Mutare; book ahead, especially over public holidays.

From Harare take the A3 towards Mutare, turn left onto the A14 at Rusape towards Juliasdale and continue towards Nyanga; turn right just before Nyanga village for the National Parks office at Rhodes. The camping ground is on the Mare River about half a kilometre west of Rhodes Dam. From Mutare take the A15 via Juliasdale.
