A single-party camp above Mandavu Dam in the northern sector, with one of the park's broadest water views and reliable hippos and crocodiles. Game often drinks across the water, so it rewards patience and binoculars.
Mandavu is a wide reservoir in the park's northern sector, and its picnic site sits on a rise with a long, open view across the water from a railed lookout and hide. Hippos grunt in the shallows, crocodiles bask along the edges, and buffalo herds and elephants come down to drink; the water is wide, so binoculars help with animals on the far side. The site was upgraded by ZimParks and IFAW in recent years and has room to spread out. It lies a short drive from Sinamatella; some of the minor loop roads around the dam are eroded and need a 4x4, so stick to the main route unless you are equipped.

Gravel park roads from Sinamatella. Minor tracks around the dam have been badly eroded and blocked by fallen trees after the rains; a 4x4 is advised. Be in camp by 18:00.
