Campsite
Owner-run lakeshore property on Lake Kariba near the Sebungwe mouth, with private and group camps between Mlibizi and Binga.
A homely owner-run stop on the Kariba shore with a choice of private or group camps and the lake on the doorstep. Bookings go through an agent, and drinking water has to come from the hosts.
Maabwe Bay is a small family property on the southern shore of Lake Kariba near the mouth of the Sebungwe River, roughly halfway between Mlibizi and Binga, where the owners live on site. Camping is split between two fenced areas ten minutes' drive apart: at Maabwe Bay Chris Camp, an exclusive site for two tents, and a group camp under a thatched lapa, and at Camp Maabwe a second group camp and Keith's Camp, a private site with its own ablutions. Days are slow and lake-focused, with birding from a clearing that looks over the bay, fishing, and sundowner boat cruises that can be booked through the hosts, followed by a fire in the evening. It makes a comfortable break for self-drivers circling the lake, 280 km from Victoria Falls. Lake water is not drinkable, so use the drinking water the owners supply.
