A one-party wilderness site in the remote country east of the Chilojo Cliffs, with nothing but a fire pit and long-drop. Good for self-sufficient crews who want solitude more than a famous view.
Lisoda is one of eleven wilderness sites in Gonarezhou, set in the quieter country east of the Chilojo Cliffs on the way towards the park's north-eastern corner. It is about as stripped-back as camping gets: a cleared pitch, a fire pit and a long-drop, with the whole site to yourselves and few other vehicles on the surrounding tracks. Evenings are spent around your own fire in unfenced bush where wildlife moves freely. Getting here means a long, slow day on dirt roads from Chipinda Pools, so it suits experienced, fully self-sufficient 4x4 parties. Carry all water, buy firewood at the gate, and plan to be in camp by dark.

Slow sandy and rocky tracks with river crossings; high-clearance 4x4 and recovery gear needed, ideally two vehicles. Remote camps close late November to March/April. No driving after 18:00.
Enter at Chipinda Pools (about an hour from Chiredzi), drive east past the Chilojo Cliffs (about 37 km, 2 hours, to the cliffs) and continue east towards the north-eastern corner of the park; confirm the route and open causeways with reservations.
