Exclusive-use ZimParks picnic-site camp at Kennedy 1 pan, south-east of Main Camp, where lions are often heard through the night.

A single-party camp beside the Kennedy pans in the eastern sector, valued for wild nights with lions and hyenas calling close by. Simple and ageing, it suits self-sufficient campers who want the bush to themselves after dark.
Kennedy 1 is a fenced picnic site beside one of the pans on the road from Main Camp towards Ngweshla, and after the day visitors leave at 18:00 it belongs to a single camping party. Its draw is the night: hyenas start calling early and lions roar around the camp, sometimes leaving tracks by the fence and coming to drink at the pan in the morning, while ground hornbills and other birds work the clearing by day. Game at the pans comes and goes with the season, and the nearby Kennedy 2 pan has a raised viewing platform. Expect a camp attendant, a small ablution block and an ageing fence, winter nights that can drop below freezing, and the need to bring all food and gear.
