Rustic riverbank campsite on Mokore ranch in the Savé Valley Conservancy, a private Big Five reserve on the Turgwe River.
A simple bush campsite that gives campers access to a private conservancy usually seen only from lodges. Self-sufficient travellers with a 4x4 get a wild riverside night for a modest rate.
Gwezi is the budget way into the Savé Valley Conservancy, one of Zimbabwe's largest private wildlife areas: a campsite on the bank of the Turgwe River on Mokore ranch, run by the same operation as Mokore's riverside lodge. The conservancy carries elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, rhino and wild dog, and from camp the operator can arrange game drives, guided walks or self-driving with a game scout. A camp hand carries water and lights the fire under the boiler for hot showers, which keeps the camp simple but comfortable. Internal roads are rough dirt and best tackled in a 4x4, especially after rain, and the turn-offs are poorly marked. Campers bring all their own gear and food; there is no lighting, so pack a good torch.

Rough conservancy dirt roads; a 4x4 is recommended, especially in the wet season. Signage from the main road and to the camp is poor.
