A private deck above an interior pan that can hold water all year, drawing game when the bush is dry. It suits self-sufficient parties wanting a night in the open away from the river camps.
Gorwe is a raised open-air deck beside a productive pan in the Gorwe area, one of a network of pans in the dry interior of Gonarezhou, well away from the Runde and Mwenezi rivers where most campers go. In good rain years the pan holds water right through the dry season, so game comes to it when the surrounding bush is parched, and the deck gives a view over it by day and a bed under the stars at night. Those who prefer canvas can pitch tents in a ground-level boma instead. Only one party of up to six uses it at a time. Getting here means long drives on remote interior tracks in a 4x4, and you must bring all water and firewood.
