A remote lakeside campsite whose draw is the estuary itself: tigerfish, elephants and boat outings from the lodge. Best for self-sufficient campers who plan ahead.
Gache Gache sits where the Gache Gache River opens into Lake Kariba's eastern basin, a wild shoreline with no town in sight where elephant, hippo, crocodile, bushbuck, waterbuck and impala are regulars and lion and buffalo pass through now and then. The campsite lies under shade trees on the river bank about 2 km from the lodge, and campers can join the lodge's boat game-viewing, tigerfish and bream fishing and sundowner cruises by arrangement. The birdlife along the estuary is rich. Most guests arrive by speedboat from Kariba, about half an hour across the lake, though it can also be reached by road or by light aircraft. It is remote, so bring everything you need and book through the lodge before setting out.

The operator says the road in is passable by 2WD or 4x4, but it is long and remote; ask the lodge about current conditions before driving. Boat transfer from Kariba is the usual way in.
On the Gache Gache River in the eastern basin of Lake Kariba, across the lake from Kariba town. Reached by boat from Kariba (about 30 minutes by speedboat), by air (airstrip about 2 km from the lodge) or by road; the campsite is about 2 km from the lodge.
