A wilderness site under a big tree on the Runde near the Chilojo Cliffs. Private and cheaper than the neighbouring exclusive camps.
About
Fishans is a wilderness site on the bank of the Runde River close to the western end of the Chilojo Cliffs, laid out beneath a large riverine tree with the wide sandy riverbed spread out in front and low hills beyond. It is booked to one party, so the view down to the river and the evening fire are yours alone, though Directors and Hlaro camps sit a few hundred metres along the bank. It costs less than the neighbouring exclusive camps and takes smaller groups, which suits a couple of vehicles wanting the cliffs without the larger party minimum. Elephants are often seen crossing the riverbed below the cliffs. Reached on the main road from Chipinda Pools in about two hours; bring all water, food and firewood.
