A much-loved exclusive-use camp on the Runde below the Chilojo Cliffs. Private, scenic and reachable on the main park road.
Directors is among the best-loved of Gonarezhou's seven exclusive camps, long a favourite with regular Zimbabwean visitors. It sits on the Runde River at the western end of the Chilojo Cliffs, the 20 km band of red and cream sandstone that rises about 180 m above the river and glows at sunrise and sunset. Days follow the river: elephants crossing the sand below the cliffs, fish eagles calling, and the drive up to the cliff-top viewpoints. Fishans and Hlaro camps are a few hundred metres away but booked separately, so the stretch of river you look over feels your own. Reached on the main gravel road from Chipinda Pools in about two hours; bring every litre of water, all food and gate-bought firewood.

Maintained gravel primary road from Chipinda Pools; high-clearance vehicle in the dry season, high-clearance 4x4 in the wet. Speed limit 40 km/h; no driving at night.
Enter at Chipinda Pools gate (from Chiredzi via the Ngundu-Tanganda road, about an hour), then follow the main road east along the Runde towards the Chilojo Cliffs, about 2 hours.
