A large municipal campground under tall trees in Bulawayo’s parkland, handy for exploring the city on foot. The setting is pleasant but upkeep is patchy.
The city council’s caravan park is one of a string of public parks on the edge of central Bulawayo, close to Centenary Park and the Natural History Museum. Its draw is location: a big, open, grassy ground under tall old trees where you can park a rig of any size and walk into the city centre for museums, markets and supplies. There is plenty of room to spread out, and it suits self-drivers breaking the journey between the Plumtree or Beitbridge borders and Hwange or the Matobo Hills. Upkeep of the buildings and ablutions has lagged behind the grounds, so treat it as a practical overnight base rather than a destination, and check what is working when you arrive.
