Two remote, unfenced ZimParks bush sites on the Zambezi 25 km upstream of the park gate, facing Tongabezi across the river.
Park conservation fees are extra, paid at the gate.
The most remote of the self-drive camping spots on the Zambezi River Drive, with two bare sites where a single party has a stretch of riverbank to itself. It suits self-sufficient campers who want solitude rather than comfort, as long as the dry-season road and the park's security advice are respected.
Chundu is as far as most self-drivers go along the Zambezi River Drive: two bare bush sites past the last numbered picnic spots, about 25 km upstream of the park reception and opposite Tongabezi on the Zambian bank. Chundu 2 sits in acacia woodland with a view over the river, while Chundu 1 is set back in the bush. Each site takes one party of up to 12, there is no fence, and nights are spent around your own fire with the river and the park's elephant, buffalo and hippo close by. Guided canoe trips from Victoria Falls also overnight in the Chundu area, so you may see paddlers pass. Come fully self-sufficient with water and firewood, keep someone in camp at all times as theft from across the river has been reported, and check the gate's 6am to 6pm hours before setting out.

Enter Zambezi National Park at the main gate on Park Way, about 5 km west of Victoria Falls town, and follow the Zambezi River Drive upstream for about 25 km (Chundu 1) or 26 km (Chundu 2), past the numbered picnic sites.
