Chipinda Pools is the campsite most Gonarezhou trips start or end at: nine pitches strung along the Runde River a ten-minute drive from the park's main gate and headquarters, above the deep pools that give the area its name. Hippos grunt from the water through the night, and elephants are seldom far away in the riverine woodland. Just downstream the river drops over Chivilila Falls into the rocky Runde Gorge, with a viewpoint a short drive from camp. Being shared and close to the gate, it is more sociable than the park's exclusive bush camps, and it makes an easy first night after the hour's drive from Chiredzi before heading two hours east to the Chilojo Cliffs. Bring all food and drinking water, and book early for the dry-season months.

Gravel access road and park primary road; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended, 4x4 in the wet season. Max two vehicles per pitch. Caravans and trailers are limited: ask reservations first. Gate hours Apr-Oct 06:30-17:30, Nov-Mar 06:00-18:30.
From Chiredzi take the Ngundu-Tanganda road to the Chipinda Pools entrance (about an hour). Report at reception; the campsite is about 10 minutes' drive from there along the Runde.
