Campsite
ZimParks campsite at Chinhoyi Caves, a short walk from the cobalt-blue Sleeping Pool, right beside the Harare–Chirundu road.
Park conservation fees are extra, paid at the gate.
A plain park campsite whose value is being able to walk to the Sleeping Pool at first light. Best treated as a convenient night on the road north rather than a destination in itself.
The draw here is the cave system a few steps from your tent: paved steps lead 46 m down into the Wonder Hole, a cavern whose roof fell in long ago, to the Sleeping Pool, known locally as Chirorodziva, a flooded sinkhole of clear cobalt water whose full depth has never been measured. The caves once sheltered Shona communities and are still visited for ancestral ceremonies. Staying over means you can walk down early, when the park has just opened and few people are about, with impala, baboons and plenty of birds in the woodland. It sits on the A1, about 115 km from Harare and 9 km past Chinhoyi town on tar, so it suits an overnight stop on the way to Kariba, Mana Pools or Chirundu. Facilities are basic, and the park entry fee is charged on top of camping.

Tarred main road (A1) all the way; the park entrance is right beside it.
From Harare take the A1 Harare–Chirundu road about 115 km to Chinhoyi; the caves are about 9 km beyond the town on the left, well signposted, with the campsite inside the park next to the main road.
