Bush camp
Exclusive-use bush camp on the Runde in Gonarezhou's far north-east, near Machaniwa Pan and the wide Chamuluvati causeway.

An exclusive-use camp on the Runde in the far north-east, close to Machaniwa Pan and the Save-Runde confluence. Very remote and quiet, for well-equipped 4x4 parties.
Chamuluvati is the most easterly of Gonarezhou's seven exclusive camps, set on the Runde River close to the broad Chamuluvati sand causeway, which runs for about a kilometre across the riverbed. It puts you within easy reach of Machaniwa Pan, a few hundred metres south of the river and known for elephants, saddle-billed storks and fish eagles, and of the large Tembwahata Pan near the Save-Runde confluence. Few visitors make it this far, so days can pass without another vehicle, and the riverbed in front of camp is a natural corridor for game. Anglers with a permit may fish from the site. Reaching it is a full day's 4x4 drive from Chipinda Pools; check the causeway is passable before setting out, and bring all water and supplies.

Reviews are campers' own opinions, not Campesa's. They don't change the campfire score.
Far north-east of the park, near the Chamuluvati causeway over the Runde. From the Chilojo Cliffs to Machaniwa Pan is about 29 km (around 3 hours); allow most of a day from Chipinda Pools. Seasonal tracks for high-clearance 4x4 only; deflate tyres for sand crossings, carry recovery gear and confirm with reservations which causeways are open.
