About
Whispering Sands is a small self-catering stop just outside Sioma on the upper Zambezi, close to Ngonye (Sioma) Falls. Alongside a main cottage, two smaller cottages and two caravans there is a campsite, with some pitches looking out over the river, and the restaurant serves hearty South African-style meals for nights when you would rather not cook. Most people come for the falls and the white sand beaches along the Zambezi, and it is a handy overnight on the M10 between Katima Mulilo and Mongu, or before heading north to Liuwa Plain. Fuel and shops are scarce around Sioma, so arrive with a full tank and supplies, and phone ahead for rates.
