About
Nkupi is a backpacker stop in Mpulungu, Zambia's only port, on the road down to the harbour at the southern end of Lake Tanganyika. Its appeal is convenience rather than scenery: you can walk to the harbour, the market and the boats that run to the lake's beach lodges and fishing villages, and the kitchen is known for cheap meals of fresh lake fish. Expect a plain town setting rather than a lakeside one. The tarred road from Mbala reaches the town, so any vehicle will do. Facilities and current rates are not published, so call ahead before relying on it.
