A lakeshore lodge on Lake Itezhi-Tezhi that takes self-catering campers on its lawns above the water. Sunsets over the lake and boat or game-drive outings into southern Kafue are the draw.
About
Musungwa has stood on the shore of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi since the early 1970s, when the dam created the big reservoir on the Kafue at the southern edge of Kafue National Park, and campers share its lawns, big trees and wide views over the water. It is the largest lodge on this shore and feels more like a small, old-fashioned hotel than a bush camp, with long-serving staff who give it character. The evening ritual is sundowners as the sun drops into the lake, from the lawn or the restaurant and bar above the shore. Boat trips on the lake and game drives into the park can be arranged for small groups, with park fees paid on top. Camping is self-catering and charged per person; book ahead, as unpaid bookings are released after a week.
