Campsite
Old-school members' boat club on Mulungushi Dam southeast of Kabwe, where visitors can camp on the lawn above a 20 km lake.
A historic boat club on Mulungushi Dam where visitors can camp on the lawn above the lake. Quiet midweek, with fishing, a pool and trails to a waterfall.
Mulungushi Boat Club has stood on the shore of Mulungushi Dam since the late 1940s, a long reservoir in a wooded gorge below the plateau southeast of Kabwe, and non-members can stay for a daily fee. Campers pitch on the lawn in front of the old clubhouse, looking out over the water; outside busy weekends, when the bar opens, it is very quiet. Days go on fishing for bass, swimming in the pool above the dam, walking across the dam wall and riding or hiking the trails to a waterfall that flows best from March to May. Expect about an hour of gravel from Kabwe with a rough last stretch, little phone signal, and a much lower lake late in the dry season.

Mostly gravel, smooth when recently graded but rocky and eroded at other times; short ungraded final track. Phone signal fades near the gate.
About an hour from Kabwe on gravel roads; the final turn-off is marked only by a small sign and leads onto a short, rough dirt track to the club gate.
