About
Mukuyu is a small, locally owned campsite with a few rustic rooms on the north bank of the Zambezi in the Chiawa Game Management Area, downstream of the Kafue confluence and upstream of the national park. Its appeal is simple: a riverside pitch facing the Zambezi and Zimbabwe beyond, at a fraction of the price of the safari lodges along this stretch. The owners arrange fishing, boat cruises, canoeing and game drives, and the park boundary is about half an hour away by boat or around an hour and a half by road. Expect basic, self-catering facilities, agree the price before you pitch, and bring supplies from Chirundu.
