Campsite
Wooded African Parks campsite above Malala Bay on the south-western shore of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi, with few other campers.
A small, quiet African Parks campsite in woodland above Lake Itezhi-Tezhi, in the Malala wilderness area of southern Kafue. Bookings go through African Parks and campers are often alone.
Malala is a small wilderness campsite in woodland above Malala Bay, on the south-western shore of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi, the long reservoir in the south of Kafue National Park. It is run by African Parks, the park's management partner, and the surrounding Malala wilderness area is also used for guided multi-day walking trails. A stay is quiet: the lake is the view from camp, and in the dry season there may be no other campers at all. Tsetse flies occur in the wider area, though they have been light at the site itself. Itezhi-Tezhi town is the nearest place for supplies and fuel. Book ahead with African Parks; cards could not be used on site in 2026, so carry kwacha in cash.
