Lodge camping
Family-run lodge with riverside camping and a natural hot spring on the Mansha River, near Shiwa Ng'andu manor.
A long-established family lodge whose riverside campsite comes with a natural hot spring and the Shiwa Ng'andu estate on the doorstep. Remote and worth more than one night, though value for money divides visitors.
Kapishya's draw is its natural hot spring, a clear, sulphur-free pool on the bank of the Mansha River where campers and lodge guests soak, with steam drifting off the water. The lodge is run by the Harvey family, grandchildren of Stewart Gore-Browne, who built the Shiwa Ng'andu manor house nearby, and a visit to the house is the classic outing from here. The campsite lies on grass under big trees beside the river, close to the spring, in gardens planted with bamboo and tropical shrubs, and many overlanders stay more than one night. It is reached on about 30 km of dirt road off the Great North Road. Visitors' views on value are mixed, so agree prices for camping and extras on arrival.

About 30 km of dirt road from the T2.
Turn off the Great North Road (T2) north of Mpika towards Shiwa Ng'andu and follow about 30 km of dirt road to the lodge on the Mansha River.
