Lodge camping
Beach lodge campsite on its own white-sand bay of Lake Tanganyika, a boat ride from Mpulungu, with lake fish and kayaks.
A beach camp on Lake Tanganyika where the lake itself is the activity: swimming, paddling and snorkelling off a private bay. Remote but with a kitchen, bar and boat transfers to lean on.
Isanga Bay is a small lodge on a private 110 m beach on the Zambian shore of Lake Tanganyika, with clear, shallow water in front; besides six chalets and rondavels it has a campsite for up to 32 people. Days revolve around the lake: swimming off the beach, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and sunset boat trips, with fresh lake fish the kitchen's speciality and a bar for the evening. Kalambo Falls on the Tanzanian border makes a day trip, and there are walks inland. The usual way in is by boat from Mpulungu harbour, about an hour away; the lodge runs on solar power with night guards on duty. Camping rates are not published, so ask when booking.
