Lodge camping
Small lodge and pub in Mpika town that also takes campers, with a vehicle workshop and local tourist information.
A practical town stopover in Mpika run alongside a pub, tourist information office and vehicle repair service. Handy for overlanders on the Great North Road, though camping is secondary to the rooms.
Bayama's, from the Bemba word for uncle, is a small lodge, pub and grill in Mpika that doubles as the office of the Mpika Tourism Association, so it is a useful place to pick up maps and advice before heading for North Luangwa, Kapishya, Shiwa Ng'andu or the Bangweulu Wetlands. Campers are taken in alongside the chalet guests, and it can also arrange breakdown help and vehicle repairs, which matters on this stretch of the Great North Road. It is a town stopover rather than a destination, a few hundred metres from fuel and shops. Camping is a sideline here, and water supply in town can fail during power cuts, so ask what is available when you arrive.
