About
This camp lies on the Namibian bank of the Orange River at Sjambok, the main rapid on the stretch below Vioolsdrif, where the river is pushed through a narrow gap into standing waves and whirlpools. Sjambok is where many two- to four-day rafting and canoe trips end, so the place is about the river itself: the roar of the rapid, sandy banks and bare rock hills, with the deep Richtersveld canyons starting a little downstream. It is a short drive from Noordoewer, south of the Aussenkehr grape farms. Book ahead in writing; rates are given on request.
