A large, well-spaced campground under camel thorn trees at the gateway to Sossusvlei. Its main advantage is being inside the gate for sunrise on the dunes.
Sesriem's campground is spread out under ancient camel thorn trees at the entrance to the Sossusvlei section of the park, with the Naukluft Mountains to the east and Elim Dune to the west; oryx and springbok often wander through. Staying inside the gate lets you reach the dunes, about 60 km away, for sunrise, and Sesriem Canyon is close by. The 44 sites are well spaced, with six overflow sites, but it is a large and popular camp, so book months ahead for the dry season.
