About
Rooisand is a 12,000 ha ranch on the C26 between the Gamsberg and Kuiseb passes, roughly halfway between Windhoek and Walvis Bay, where red dunes meet the mountains of the Khomas Hochland. Its big draw is the night sky: the ranch has an observatory with a large telescope open to visitors, and a 2.5 km planetary walk. Camping is a small part of the ranch, with five level sites and wide, open views; the pool and tennis courts are kept for room guests. The nearest fuel is about 70 km away.
