Community camp
Small family-run community camp at a stand of makalani palms on the Etendeka plains, just south-east of Palmwag.
A four-pitch community camp at a stand of makalani palms near Palmwag, run by a local family for the community. Simple and small, a quieter alternative to the lodge campsite nearby.
A small camp set beside a cluster of 17 makalani palms on the open basalt plains of the Etendeka, a few kilometres south-east of Palmwag. It is run by a local family on behalf of the community, so camping fees stay in the area, and with only four pitches it is a quieter, simpler alternative to the busier lodge campsite up the road. It makes a base for the Palmwag area and the Grootberg road, with fuel and basic supplies at Palmwag a short drive away. The gravel roads around the C43 and C40 junction are fine in an ordinary vehicle in the dry season. Phone ahead, as the camp is small and has little presence online.
