Grassy, palm-shaded pitches on the Kunene a short walk above Epupa Falls, beside Gondwana's tented camp.
A riverbank camp in the palms at Epupa, close enough to walk to the falls and to share the lodge's guided outings. Its appeal is the setting at the end of a long road into Kaokoland, with the comforts of a lodge next door.
The ten pitches sit in a band of makalani palms on the Kunene bank, about 200 m upstream of where the river splits and drops some 40 m through a rocky gorge at Epupa Falls, with baobabs on the slopes behind. Campers share the neighbouring tented camp's bar, restaurant deck and pool, and its guides lead a late-afternoon walk up a hill to watch the sun set over the falls, a morning stroll upstream for birds and vervet monkeys, and visits to an OvaHimba homestead. Visitors tend to value the deep palm shade in the heat and pitches only metres from the water. Epupa is about 180 km of dusty gravel north of Opuwo, so stock up there. Swimming in the river is forbidden because of crocodiles and strong currents.

From Opuwo follow the C43 north for about 180 km to Epupa on the Kunene River; the camp is on the riverbank about 200 m upstream of the falls. An airstrip lies 800 m from the camp.
