A simple community camp on the Kunene bank west of Ruacana, shaded by large jackalberry trees. It is a practical, low-key stop for self-drivers on the river road to Epupa.
A community-run camp right on the Namibian bank of the Kunene, west of Ruacana on the river road towards Epupa, with its pitches shaded by big jackalberry trees. A large thatched bar and dining area forms the centre of the camp, and days here are slow: birding and fishing along the river, short hikes into the hills and 4x4 tracks in the area. It is simple rather than polished, and suits self-drive travellers breaking the long D3700 drive between Ruacana and Epupa. Book ahead for groups or in peak season, and bring supplies from Ruacana.

Gravel. The D3700 has been upgraded and is mostly well graded, but slow down for dips at dry riverbeds; crossings can flow in the rains (December to April).
From Ruacana take the D3700 gravel road west along the Kunene towards Epupa; the camp is on the river about 45 km west of the Ruacana Falls.
