About
Lyadura is a bare, designated camping area on the banks of the Kwando River in Nkasa Rupara National Park, a maze of reed channels, islands and floodplain that turns into a small Okavango in high-water years. The park holds Namibia's largest buffalo herds as well as elephant, hippo, lion, wild dog and red lechwe, and more than 430 bird species including breeding wattled cranes. There are no facilities of any kind, a 4x4 with recovery gear is essential, and in big flood years much of the park cannot be reached by vehicle.
