A wild, unstaffed park campsite on the tree-lined Kuiseb riverbed, with the Namib's red dunes rising right across the river. Self-sufficient travellers come for the solitude and the dune views; a permit must be bought in advance.
About
A handful of wild pitches shaded by large ana trees in the dry Kuiseb riverbed, where the gravel plains to the north meet the red dune sea across the river; climbing the dunes opposite is the main draw. It is remote, close to 90 km from the nearest fuel, and beside a small Topnaar settlement, so local people and livestock may be about. There are no staff, water or shop: bring everything, including water and firewood, and buy the park permit beforehand.
