Goais is a small campsite on Goais farm, just off the C14 about 10 km past Helmeringhausen on the way to Bethanie. It is a natural overnight stop on the long gravel run between Sossusvlei and the Fish River Canyon, and a simple, cheaper alternative to camping at the hotel in town. The host, Jos, built much of it himself. Its best-known touch is the shower: you lower a bucket on a winch, fill it at the tap and haul it back up to the height you want. Expect a quiet, unhurried farm camp with time to talk to the hosts in the morning. There is no website, so phone ahead and arrive with what you need.
