The largest site on a quiet nature farm in the Erongo Mountains, built around a big shelter among granite boulders. It suits groups who want hiking, birding and rock scenery rather than a busy campground.
Camp Mountain View is the largest of the eight campsites on Erongo Rocks, a nature farm in the Erongo Mountains, and it is laid out for groups: a long roofed shelter backs onto a hillside of rounded granite boulders, with the Erongo range filling the skyline. Days here are spent on the farm's marked trails and viewpoints among the boulders, on guided walks to old rock art, or watching for the birds and small animals of the Erongo, such as Verreaux's eagles and the black mongoose; visitors often single out the birdlife. Evenings are quiet by design, with a no-music, no-party rule. The farm lies on the gravel D2315 west of Omaruru and no 4x4 is needed in normal conditions. The catch is the minimum charge of four adults, and pets are not allowed.
