Campsite
Bare wilderness camp under a camel thorn opposite Xaxa waterhole and pan, a stop on the long sand track from Khutse to Xade.
A completely undeveloped camp in the south-west of the Central Kalahari, set under a large camel thorn tree facing Xaxa pan and its waterhole, which can be dry when the pump is broken. It is mainly used as an overnight stop on the slow, sandy route between Khutse and Xade, as driving at night in the reserve is not allowed. There is no water and no ablution of any kind, so bring everything, carry your waste out, and pack a tough groundsheet against the thorns. The site is poorly signposted.

Long, thick-sand two-track; Khutse Gate to Xaxa is about 150 km at roughly 25 km/h. Night driving in the reserve is prohibited.
