About
Towe Pan is one of the wilderness-route camps in KD2, the community concession between Hukuntsi and the Kgalagadi's Kaa Gate that the Qhaa Qhing Conservation Trust of Zutshwa manages. It lies deep in the Kalahari about 20 km west of Name Pan, further in than the transit camps, and it is a place for travellers who want an open pan and the surrounding bush to themselves for a night. Reaching it means slow sand driving from Zutshwa, where the camping permit is paid before setting out. Plan to be completely self-sufficient: carry all water, fuel and firewood, and check the route is open before going.
