A game-farm campsite a short drive from Ghanzi, set apart from the lodge with its own waterhole lookout. Its appeal is the plains game and the lodge's bar and pool nearby, but upkeep has been uneven.
About
Tautona's campsite lies on the lodge's private game reserve about 5 km from Ghanzi, roughly a kilometre from the main lodge, with pitches shaded by thorn trees. The waterhole and its lookout point are the place to sit in the late afternoon as eland, oryx, giraffe, zebra, kudu and ostrich come and go, and the reserve's tracks can be driven for a self-drive game outing. A boma and lapa at the campsite give shelter on rainy evenings, and the lodge's bar, restaurant and pool are a five-minute drive away, where San walks and dances can also be arranged. It is a handy overnight stop between Namibia, Maun and the Central Kalahari. Upkeep at the lodge has been uneven in recent years, so phone ahead to confirm the campsite is open and the current rate.
